Meeting Agenda for:

September 6, 2023 – 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In-Person Meeting: Midvale’s Front Office Conference Room

 

Parent Members Present:
Alyssa Powers, Janette Pasaye, Jessica Dalton, Kimberly Menseen, Mac McCann, Mandy Yu, Pamela Brown, and Stephanie Liu.

Absent Parents:
Shinyoung Ahn,Steve Brown, and Tami Yamane.

Agenda

  1. Welcome Mindy Robison
    • Introduced new and existing members

 

       2. SCC Bylaws Mindy Robison

    • Discussed bylaws.  Currently in compliance.

 

       3. Elect a President Mindy Robison

    • Jessica Dalton nominated and Amy Skelton seconded Pamela Brown for president.  She was voted in unanimously.
    • Pamela Brown nominated Mac McCann as vice president.  Jessica Dalton seconded.  He was voted in unanimously.

 

       4. SCC Training Mindy Robison

SCC Trainings: sessions will be at the Canyons Center in the District Office at  9361 S. 300 East

  • Thursday, September 7 9-10:30 a.m. OR 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 12 1-2:30 p.m. OR 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 27 10-11:30 a.m. OR 6-7:30 p.m.

    5. PTSA Report Alyssa & Jessica
    • Down to 2 PTSA sponsored events.  Teacher Appreciation and yearbook. Need additional members and someone new to learn about the yearbook as the current parent in charge of the yearbook will be leaving after this year.

 

        6. Community School Facilitator Report Jessica Olmos

    • Preparing for vision screening next week and Day of Caring in October in partnership with Dominion Energy.
    • Community Schools fill basic needs for our students, including clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and food bags on Fridays.
    • USANA Kids Eat and an individual family help support our students.
    • Supports Reality Town for 8th graders.  Need 50 volunteers.

 

        7. Portrait of a Graduate Overview/Update Shelley Allen

    • 2nd year of PoaG.  Passed out t-shirts to all students during RISE-UP.  Will be piloting one of the Thrive Time units during RISE-UP.

 

        8. Counselors Report Amy Skelton

    • Introducing the 6th graders to the SEL staff.
    • Schedule changes to place students into their reading and math intervention classes.
    • Conducting the student connectedness fall survey.  Will give this survey again in the spring to gauge if students’ sense of connectedness is increasing over the course of the school year, specifically focusing on positive adult relationships.
    • 8th grade will participate in Reality Town in November.

 

         9. Safe School Walking Route & Safety Plan Connie Simons

    • Showed the CSD Safe School Report page.  The district would like feedback on the helpfulness of the information available on that page/videos in October.
    • Shared and discussed the safe walking routes plan.  Discussed the lack of crossing guards on some of the busier streets.

 

       10. Digital Citizenship Plan Connie Simons & Shelley Allen

    • Will begin presenting to students on how to be responsible digital citizens in October.
    • School Community Council will receive information on our Digital Citizenship Plan next month.

 

       11. Teacher Student Success Plan Mindy Robison

    • Literacy goal is 75% of students will show expected growth on the RI.
    • STEM goal is that 60% of students will show expected growth on the MI.
    • Our first PBIS goal is monthly, at least 98% of students will be recognized using our school-wide PBIS system.
    • Also, student connectivity will increase from the pre and post wellness survey.

 

        12. TSSA/LAND Trust Budgets Mindy Robison

    • Showed the budgets.

Alyssa Powers made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mac McCan.
