September 1, 2021 – 5:30 pm

2. Assessment of Membership Numbers- Alyssa Powers

Members who attended tonight can be on SCC without an election. We still have room for one parent.


3. Election -Alyssa Powers

Pamela Brown nominated by Alyssa Powers as the SCC chair Second – Lindsay Butrum
Mac McCann nominated by Alicia Woodward as the SCC vice chair Second – Jeanette Dummer


4. PTSA Report (Reflections and More)- Lindsay Butrum

Next Wednesday will be the first PTSA meeting of the year. The meeting will be in person. There will also be an online option. Please join PTSA if you have not already done so. Reflections will be starting soon. Details can be found on the PTSA website.


5. Community School Facilitator Report- Mindy Robison

Jessica Olmos is our new school community facilitator. Her role is to make sure students’ immediate needs are met.


6. MYP (Middle Years Programme) Update- Shelley Allen

TOP BRICCCK Focus – Knowledgeable and Reflective Statement of Inquiry – MYP helps us become inquiring, knowledgeable and caring people who create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Service Goal – Pinwheels for Peace


7. Counselors Report -Amy Skelton

Working on placing students into intervention classes Working on rolling out student ambassador program Student Wellness Survey results: QUESTION: I know an adult at school/online that I can talk with if I need help Increased 2.6% from Fall to Spring, 81.8% to 84.4% QUESTION: I have friends at Midvale Middle School Increased 3.3% from Fall to Spring, 89.8% to 93.1%


8. TSI Update (Targeted School for Improvement)- Mindy Robison

The state identifies schools they would like to see growth with specific populations. Mindy will be sharing more information in upcoming meetings.
9. TSSP Refresher for New Members -Mindy Robison

Literacy: Performance Goal
     ● 75% of students will meet or exceed expected growth on the Reading Inventory (RI) during the current school year. Math: Performance Goals
     ● 60% of students will meet or exceed expected growth rates on the Mathematics Inventory (MI) during the current school year. PBIS Goals
     ● 80% of the formal and informal observations during the current school year will have a positive to corrective feedback ratio of at least 3:1.
     ● By May of 2021, student connectivity and wellness will increase as measured by improved scores from the pre and post wellness survey through implementation of after school programming, counseling supports, and the social emotional curriculum, Second Step.

10. TSSA & Land Trust Budgets -Mindy Robison

2021-2022 Allocations TSSA: $ 138,235.00

LAND Trust: $ 129,891.82
*These are the estimated amounts for next year

11. Vote on Virtual vs. In Person Meetings -Mindy Robison

Virtual or In-Person?
Meetings will be virtual for the time being. We will revisit the option for in-person meetings later in the year.

13. Cell Tower Allocations- Mindy Robison

Each year, Midvale Middle School receives funds from the cell tower in the back field.
School Community Council votes on how the funds are allocated. Proposed Allocations:
     – Funds are deposited into the Principal’s Discretionary Fund – Food for teachers – Staff Appreciation
     – Pick me ups
     – Birthday celebrations
     – Staff morale Motion to use the cell tower allocations for the principal’s Discretionary Fund     
     – Alyssa Powers Second – Alicia Woodward

Letter of Vigilance: COVID -19 Update
     – We can not enforce a mask mandate. Wearing masks is currently optional.
