- Mr. Long asked parents/guardians to verify email addresses.
- SCC Bylaws Courtney Long
- Mr. Long reviewed school personnel, parents, and voting members.
- Mr. Long showed the bylaws. Explained they would be posted on the website. He further explained that bylaws can be modified if needed.

- Alysha shared how they are doing the executive council meetings after SCC
- Shared how students can join the PTSA.
- Working on this initiative and developing their leadership skills
- Jessica Olmos is helping this initiative at the school
- It was asked what the PTSA does
- Alysha shared how they help with aligning parents, students, teachers, and the school as a whole.
- They lead a season of gratitude one year, a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, etc.
- They help with dinners during Parent Teacher Conferences
- They lead the field trip to the state capital.
- Community School Facilitator Report Jessica Olmos
- Jessica’s helps provide basic needs for students and families.
- Food bags
- Vision screening and glasses
- Dental support
- Maintaining partnerships
- Day of Caring on September 11, 2026
- Taking 8th grade middle school students to elementary schools to read to students
- 6th graders will be making Tiny Tim cars
- 7th graders will be making blankets
- Parents are welcomed and encouraged to volunteer
- PTSA Student Committee
- Hoping they can give us ideas about the State-Wide Read-a-Thon
- Community Health Fair
- October 8

- 35 Health organizations will be invited
- Reality Town for 8th Graders
- November 5th
- 8:00 to 11:00
- Need 50 volunteers
- 2 adults at each booth
- Counselor help
- Jessica’s helps provide basic needs for students and families.

- Every Friday we have a class where students develop skills and characteristics needed to be a successful as graduate and professional
- Ms. Allen shared information about how these lessons connect with citizenship grades which are focused on Collaborator and Resilient Learner
- Lessons are posted on the school website.
- Counselors Report Amy Skelton
- Ms. Skelton shared information about MAP testing and how several students tested out of intervention classes.
- Ms. Skelton explained Reality Town and how it helps kids understand the cost of living and how some really consider post secondary education differently aftewards
- Question: Why is it only 8th grade?
- The company that runs Reality Town has geared it for 8th grade.
- It aligns with other standards in 8th grade.
- Ms. Skelton explained what they do to help 6th graders thinking about life beyond school.
- Teacher Student Success Plan (TSSP) Courtney Long
- Mr. Long shared how the TSSP is the largest part of what he shares at SCC
- Mr. Long shared how they focus on growth given the variability in starting points for students.
- Mr. Long reviewed the TSSP goals for 2026-27.
- Mr. Long emphasized the attendance goal.
- How we are educating both students and parents on the importance of attendance.
- Sept 9th, kick off assembly. It is going to be big and exciting.
- Data shows there is a correlation between academic and behavioral success and attendance.
- We should have the budget numbers at the October meeting
- TSSP/LAND Trust Budgets Courtney Long
- Mr. Long explained funding and student numbers. The majority of the budget goes to paying for teachers.
- Mr. Long praised Midvale’s teachers and supporting students coming to and going from the school.
- Mr. Long shared some news about new classrooms.
- The Podcast room
- The Robotics rooms
- Action Item: Cell Tower to PDF Courtney Long
- Mr. Long shared information about what the Cell Tower is and how it could be spent, specifically for supporting teacher morale.
- Ms. Allen shared how the support for morale really does make a difference.
- Ms. Lawrence asked if it doesn’t go to teacher morale, where does it go?
- It can’t go to personnel
- Mr. Baxter shared how another school proposed using it for equipment.
- Mr. Long shared how he uses various funds to support equipment, classrooms (like the Podcast room), etc.
- A member shared this really is the only fund to support teachers.
- Mr. Kamath asked if the SCC gets an update on how the funds is being used.
- Yes
- Ms. Stoddard made the motion to approve the cell tower funds for the principal discretionary funds.
