School Community Council Minutes
October 6, 2021 – 5:30 pm

2.Approval of September Minutes

3. PTSA Report (Reflections and More)

PTSA needs volunteers.
           -Teacher Support sub-committee

Vision Screening 10/12 8:00 – 11:30 am & 11:30 – 3:30 pm

Reflections Student Support
            – help students submit Reflection entries end of October

President-elect and Student Board Co-chair positions are still open.

4. Community School Facilitator Report                                       

-Jessica Olmos

  • Entire school went through Vision Screenings completed by Nurse Heather, there were over 150 students who need eye
  • Mobile Vision van will be at the school on October Medical van will start coming with Vision Van again.
  • Students have already started requesting coats and
  • We’ve received coats, hoodies, and socks from the Jonah Glenn Fundraiser hosted by The Hog
  • Started planning for Holiday supports

5. MYP (Middle Years Programme) Update

Statement of Inquiry – Small acts can change the world
Service Goal – Kindness Challenge and PTSA Reflections

6.  Counselors Report

-Ariana Franco

  • Student Ambassador Program is up and running. We have 10- 6th graders, 10- 7th graders and 13- 8th graders.
  • Fall Student Wellness Survey was given last month and counselors have reviewed the We will give the survey again in the spring.
  • Counselors will be giving a lesson on stress in the 6th grade CCA class per the CCA curriculum requirements
  • Preparing for 8th grade PCCR classes and meetings next

7. TSI Update (Targeted School for Improvement)

The state identifies schools they would like to see growth with specific

  • African American (Blacks)
  • Economically Disadvantaged
  • Hispanic
  • Multilingual Learners
  • Students with Disabilities

*Goal is to increase growth and proficiency on the RISE test
*Action plan is being revised
*Focused on Reading Inventory (RI) and Math Inventory (MI) growth
*Intervention courses (Read 180 and Math 180)
*Small group instruction in all classes
*Plan will be presented next month

8. TSSP Data Update

Literacy: Performance Goal

  • 75% of students will meet or exceed expected growth on the Reading Inventory (RI) during the current school

Math: Performance Goals

  • 60% of students will meet or exceed expected growth rates on the Mathematics Inventory (MI) during the current school

PBIS Goals

  • 80% of the formal and informal observations during the current school year will have a positive to corrective feedback ratio of at least 3:1.
  • By May of 2021, student connectivity and wellness will increase as measured by improved scores from the pre and post wellness survey through implementation of after school programming, counseling
