       4. Community School Facilitator Report Jessica Olmos

    • Day of Caring – October 10th, whole school service day and conflict resolution lessons.  Supported by United Way of Salt Lake and Dominion Energy.
    • Last year wer gave 902 hours of community service
    • Reality Town – November 2nd, 50 volunteers needed

    • Student Connectedness Fall Survey 
      • Baseline data: 96% of students report having a friend at MMS and 85.7% of students report knowing an adult they can go to for help.
    • 8th Grade will participate in Reality Town on Nov 2
    •  School wide conflict resolution lessons

 

    1. Action Item: Cell Tower Fund Distribution Mindy Robison
      • Each year, Midvale Middle receives approximately $2,000, from the cell tower in the back of the school.
      • Proposed to allocate funds to the Principal’s Discretionary Fund
        • Food for teachers
        • Staff appreciation

      • SCC approves how the funding is allocated

 

                 2. Action Item: Safety Plan Connie Simons 

      • SCC felt the information presented in the district community council safety report was easy to understand and the website was easy to navigate.
      • Nothing stood out as missing in the report
      • Our number one safety concern is making sure the entire school community is taught and understand the new standard response protocol
      • No additional items identified as a primary concern

      • SCC approves the Safety Plan

 

                 3. Action Item: Digital Citizenship Plan Shelley Allen

    • Digital Citizenship Plan includes making sure all staff, students and the community understand how to safely navigate the digital world including the impact of their digital footprint.
    • Parents would like more information on social media use and misuse, including ways to better help their students at home.
    • Parents would like to be included in planning training and information for parents
    • Questions answered by the SCC:
      • Does the SCC feel it has received enough information to determine if the filtering system and supervision practices are appropriate?
        • Yes
      • Does the SCC feel it has received enough information about the school’s educational efforts to instill in students a desire to be good digital citizens?
        • Yes
      • Does the SCC believe the school has a viable plan to present information on Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship information to parents in the community?
        • Yes, include parents in the planning process for training

      • 6th Grade: 152 students reached growth goal, 54.48%
      • 7th Grade: 151 students reached growth goal, 54.91%
      • 8th Grade: 150 students reached growth goal, 52.26%
    • Math Inventory 
      • 6th Grade: 89 students reached growth goal, 31.90%
      • 7th Grade: 125 students reached growth goal, 46.64%
      • 8th Grade: 116 students reached growth goal, 41.73%
    • Behavior Data
      • Physical aggression is higher than the last three years
      • We are having a much higher percentage of office discipline referrals are male.
      • We are having a much higher percentage of office discipline referrals with students who are receiving special education services 

 

        7. ATSI Designation  Mindy Robison

    • We qualified in five areas
      • African American / Black
      • English Language Learners
      • Hispanic
      • Pacific Islanders
      • Students with disabilities 
    • More information about the plan will be coming 

 

        8. Teacher Student Success Plan Mindy Robison

    • Literacy goal is 75% of students will show expected growth on the RI.
    • STEM goal is that 60% of students will show expected growth on the MI.
    • Our first PBIS goal is monthly, at least 98% of students will be recognized using our school-wide PBIS system.
    • Also, student connectivity will increase from the pre and post wellness survey.
