Members Present: Steve Brown (chair /parent), Mac McCann (vice chair / parent),  Alysha Braithwaite (parent),  Michelle Brandon (parent), Lyndzi Elsmore (parent), Courtney Long (principal), Shelley Allen (teacher / SCC secretary), Karalee Birima (teacher),  Amy Skelton (counselor), Jessica Olmos (community facilitator)

  1. Welcome ~Steve Brown
  • Need to review the minutes we have not approved. The council will review them and we will approve all minutes not currently approved. 



      2.PTSA Report ~Michelle Brandon

Current membership: 67 members 

 

  • Next Priorities: 
    • Parent Teacher Conferences (February 2025)
    • Dues Increase Vote: to be conducted via Google Form
    • 2025 Fundraising Initiative 
    • Discussing as a PTSA non-monetary ways for student involvement (Children Entrepreneurial Fair, School Art Show)

 

  • Reflections Update: 

Student Recognition

  • Awards distributed before holiday break
  • Mr. Long received a PPT for student spotlight during morning announcements on 1/6/25.

Regional Event:

  • Region & Council Reflections Awards Night: January 16, 2025, at Butler Middle School.



Community School Facilitator Report ~Jessica Olmos

  • Holiday Support 2024 – Thank you for all the support and donations given to our school.
    • We helped a little over 50 families this year, and our students who regularly pick up food on Fridays
    • RPT and MPT donated food bags
    • Albion Middle School donated well over 1000 boxes of cereal



      3.Portrait of a Graduate Overview/Update ~Shelley Allen

    • 6th Grade WADE Celebration
    • 7th Grade PILOT Celebration 
    • 8th Grade Awards Night 
      • Thursday, May 15 – 6:00 PM
      • Rise Up Project Due April 4 
  • The Circuit – Death Forgiven 
    • Some questions include: Who or what has helped you when you felt new or like you didn’t fit in?  What makes you feel comfortable at school?

 

      4.Counselors Report ~ Amy Skelton

  • Incoming 6th grade orientation January 28
    • 5th graders in AM 
    • Parent night 5:30 – 7:00 PM
  • Jordan Digger Fair January 29 at 6 PM
  • JHS counselors Feb 5th 6th period – course request 
  • HHS counselors Feb 11 – course requests
  • Counselors will be in 6th grade science and 7th grade science classes on January 29 and 30th to hand out registration cards



       5.TSSP for next year  ~Courtney Long

        6.TSSP update for this year ~Courtney Long

              Goals:

 

  • On a monthly basis, at least 98% of students will be recognized through our school-wide positive behavior intervention system.

 

  • By May of 2025, student connectivity and wellness will increase as measured by improved scores from the pre and post-wellness survey through the implementation of the after-school program, counseling supports, community facilitator supports, and lessons in homeroom on Portrait of a Graduate.

 

We are making good progress on our MAP reading and math assessments with expected growth.

 

Students are being recognized through PBIS points.

 

Connectivity and wellness survey will be given at the end of the year.
