School Community Council Meeting Notes, February 4, 2025

I. Action Item; Motion to approve Jan 2026 meeting minutes – motion to approved by Robyn Kunz, 2nd by Lyndzi Elsmore

II. PTSA Report
a. Membership count 113, students made up 53 of those members
b. Upcoming Meeting to be held Virtually on Feb 10, 2026 at 9 am MST
c. Nominating Committee will meet Feb 18 to create nominees for next years board (2026-2027)
d. Day at the Capitol on Feb 17, 2026
e. P/T Conf dinner Feb 23rd
f. Read Across America Week March 2-6, silent reading party in the library
g. College Week/Mini March Madness – Activities will be planned by the Student Council & LIA
h. “We are Midvale” Culture Night May 7, 530 – 700 pm, Food Trucks and Activities 7-8 p, performances; will need parent volunteers. Students will be making a paper quilt.

III. Portrait of a Graduate
a. 6th Grade (Who am I?)
b. 7th Grade (Where am I going?)
c. 8th Grade (How will I make a difference?)

IV. Counselor Report
a. Jordan HS will be here Feb 11, 6th period
b. Hillcrest HS, Feb 18th – course requests
c. Counselors will be meet w/6th and 7th grade on Feb 4-5 to hand out reg cards
d. 5Th grade students have their reg cards, they are due tomorrow

V. TSSP (Goals)
a. 75% students will meet or exceed expected growth rate on the MAP Growth Reading Assessment in the 26-27 school year
b. 60% student “…….” Math Assessment in the 26-27 school year
c. On a monthly basis at least 98% of students will be recognized thru
d. Fall to Winter Math MAP Growth, goal is 60%, we are just below
e. Reading Map, Goal is 75 %, 8th graders at @ 60%
f. Reading MAP Growth Data, Attendance correlates with Reading Success, so more focus will be made on attendance
g. We are going to focus on the “At Risk” group on their attendance to drive reading MAP growth
h. Math Map growth is also heavily driven by attendance
i. Those who are not chronically absent, will make expected growth in Math and Reading

VI. Student Recognition 
a. On a monthly basis, hold one student recognition event to recognize students achievement, growth, or effort towards our school-wide goals. 

VII. Student Climate/ TSSP Considerations
a. Given the following: Community Facilitator (.5), Counselor (.5), FTE (.5), Behavior Intervention (1), Mentors (2), Supplies for class materials, Field Trips., Conferences

VIII. Next Meeting, March 4, 2926, 6 pm, In Person – This is the big meeting where the budget is finalized and signed off on. Please try to attend this meeting.
